We're back from Japan!
What a great city, highly recommended. I loved the food (especially the desserts), the people, the fashion - everything is just wonderful over there. We visited the antique flea market in Tokyo where I got to try on and see many beautiful vintage Kimonos. There was so much to see in so little time.
We spent one Sunday afternoon in Shibuya and Harajuku just people watching.
People watching in Shibuya.
Apparently a hat is a current must-have summer item in Japan :D
What a great place for trend research! I love how everyone just wears whatever they want and some how it just works. I saw a guy in a Doraemon outfit with face paint, cos play characters, a guy dressed as a nun, and lots of lolita looks.
While we were there I wore my floral headband and it got some great compliments from local Japanese girls. I really believe these headbands will do really well in Japan :D

My new camera bag survived the trip, but it will need some minor adjustments to make it more photographer handy before it goes on sale.
Overall, we had a great time in Japan full of lots of new and wonderful experiences including an incident with the musical toilet but that's for another time ;D
I'm now so inspired and ready to work on the next collection.
Love,
Subsidee ❤
I've recently taken up lomography to spend more quality time with my lovely husband as he is an aspiring photographer (he uses a proper camera not a toy one like mine!). I spent last week preparing for our upcoming trip to Japan. The main purpose for this trip is to take lots of photos and seek new inspiration for my work.
Meet my new toy camera, Diana F+ Deluxe set.
After getting the full camera set, I then needed a cool camera bag to go with it.
I spent last week searching for a camera bag, that would suit my personality and look good. All I could find were bags made for men or very boring bags. The camera bags made for girls on offer at the shop looked like they were designed by men. After a while I gave up the search and became determined to make my own 'it' camera bag.
After a day and a half of playing around with the fabric and the design, I came up with a new prototype camera bag specially designed for ladies!
Meet my new prototype camera bag:
Super cute 'Sweet Heart' camera bag
I chose the floral prints to go with this years summer trends :D
Big Heart shoulder pad - for our delicate shoulder ~ ❤
Adjustable padding compartment
All loaded up with my new Diana F+ and all the accessories!
I'm taking my new sweet heart bag for a test run in Japan so that I can refine the design and check that everything works as it should. Once I have perfected the design the bag will be for sale on my online shop in July 2010.
Pre-orders are welcome. Please contact sales@subsidee.com
Looking forward to showing you all my new Japanese inspire design.
Love
Subsidee ❤

You've probably notice , Its been a while since my last post, Now there's a good reason for that.
Yes, I'm Getting married! I've been working really hard and was very busy setting up everything we need for our wedding that's why I haven't been posting very much. The big day is less than 28 days away things start to get hectic around here.. Wedding dress, Shoes, hair accessories, bridesmaid's dresses, flower girl's dress , Groom's suit, groom's shoes, Best man matching ties.... where are they!
Being a fashion designer, i try to do everything myself, Including the designing of my wedding invitation, i even tries to sculpt the cake topper myself! which didn't happen as the H2B said NO! and told me to stop trying to do everything myself. I did however manage to make the bridesmaid dresses and accessories which i love ❤
Lately i found myself enjoying making accessories and the party dresses ( pretty dresses) a lot more than casual clothes. Who's know one day i might add bridal couture into our line!
Anyway here's some speak preview of the bridesmaid dresses
My next post will probably after the wedding, so until then..
Take care
Love, Subsidee ❤
While in Hong Kong, I had a chance to participant in a small craft market. I launched a new accessories line under 'Thekhuns' brand. The items sold under this brand will be available on Etsy.com
I had a great time talking to customers, getting to know them, finding out their needs and what they thought of our products. The good news is I seem to be on the right track with the accessories.
A great surprise for me today was meeting a couple who bought one of our limited edition Tees from 2 years ago when me and my friends were making t-shirts to sell at a music festival and selling under the Yellow Fang brand. :D
Here are some picture from the craft market.
Hope your all well. I'm off to Bangkok this week for a short holiday. Whilst I'm there I'm hoping to source some new fabrics for the next collection.

I've been reading, I've been studying, and I've decided to go green! As a young (and small) brand I have the power and opportunity to change very early on. I believe in green and fair trade fashion. I believe workers in the sewing factory shouldn't get pay less than they deserve.
A few years ago while traveling to the north of Thailand, I experienced first hand the worker's poor quality of living. Despite being underpaid and over worked, they have excellent craftsmanship and have a lot of pride in their work. While I was there I asked a local lady to make me a jacket. I paid her in advance of what I think the jacket should cost (which was 5 times more than what she is charging) and gave her my address so that she could send the jacket to me when it was finished.
"I experienced first hand the worker's poor quality of living"
A month later I received the iacket. It was great! She really did took time to master it. I noticed right away that with the right guidance (like choosing material or matching the right combination of knit color) they would be able to sell items for more money which would help their quality of life significantly.
I spoked to my mum and the local teachers right away about my interests in helping them out with their product development.
Another big issue in the fashion industry is where big company exploit developing countries. While the workers have worked very hard, they still don't earn enough money to be able to send their kids to school and with no proper education how can their community ever grow and develop to be something else other than factory workers?
Our Goal
Our goal in the next three years will be to be able to sell our clothing in more countries and make a small profit to be able to sponsor a craft and training center over in Thailand to help the poor local people enhance their skills and get guidance on trends and styles to be able to earn more money for their crafts which will hopefully lead to better living conditions.
"sponsor a craft and training center...to enhance their skills...leading to better living conditions"
While my great vision is in the future, what am I doing today to lead to this final goal. I'm now working on our new collection and currently in negotiation with organic cotton farmers to see if we can get our hand on some organic cotton, bamboo or eco- friendly fabric to be include in our new collection. We hope to be able to provide you (our darling customers) with an option to make the world a better place while looking very Chic doing it!
We're helping the world... one top at a time.
